who it’s for?
There are certain people who particularly thrive on this approach- not just thrive, it’s like a light has been switched on for them.
Is this like you in any way?
- You are quiet, shy, reserved or an introvert. You have a love-hate relationship with the spotlight so you avoid situations where you’re the centre of attention, or exposed in any way, although a part of you longs to be seen, noticed and appreciated. You haven’t spoken up when you knew you should, and you’ve missed out on opportunities and this has hampered you in your life in so many ways.
- You feel a deep desire to express your creativity. Perhaps you were creative as a child and then when you got to adolescence, it was if a door got slammed shut. Or do you feel an urge to be creative which has been continually thwarted so when you try to express yourself, you feel blocked and are disappointed with your efforts, so you lose heart. Maybe you read the Artist’s Way and got stuck half way through.
You feel as if you are in a box. You are aware that this is a consequence of restrictions from your childhood and as a result you have a tough inner critic constantly censoring everything you do. Maybe you are in a job that does not allow any outlet for creativity and self expression, leaving you feeling frustrated and deadened. You can never really feel you are being yourself. It’s as if you’re going through the motions. - You’ve been through a lot of trauma in your life. There’s this deep, dark place you go to from time to time, and you seem to feel everything ten times more intensely than anyone else. As a result you get really down – sometimes for no reason – and you find it tough to get yourself out of it.
-
You are an artist/writer in the garett creating wonderful work but find it desperately hard to promote yourself. Or you’re a healer, therapist, coach or running your own business but find it hard to talk about what you do and you never feel you’re convincing enough. Or you’re a musician who loves making music but holds back when you come to performing on stage. And you know you have to get better at “putting yourself out there” if you’re going to be as successful as you want to be. - You are really wanting to be in a new relationship, but don’t find it easy to meet new people either because you find socialising difficult or because you find it hard to approach the people you’re attracted to, or worse the people you’re attracted to see you as a friend and don’t value who you are.
It’s an interesting and unusual bunch of people that usually come to Making Moves Groups and Courses.
Most people come because they feel they are on some kind of path and have explored other kinds of personal or spiritual development or are interested in holistic health.
They believe there’s more to life than having a nice house or paying the bills. They’re on a quest to fulfilling themselves on a much deeper level, and of finding what deeply calls to them in life.
Most have little or no experience of drama before coming to a Making Moves event. They are the “I could never do anything like that – because it will be full of drama types who love to show off” kind of people. Fortunately this kind of work does not attract the show-off drama types.
It does however attract people who find drama a powerful way of expressing themselves and freeing themselves of negative conditioning and mindsets.
Most people comment on just how supportive the other people are and how quickly they feel at home and part of the group. The spirit of camaraderie between people and the sense of connection with other people is what makes the experience so heart warming.
But will it work for you?
I have a very high success rate for helping my clients come out of their shell. And my approach certainly works very well if you have these values:
- You are ready to step out of your comfort zone and experience something new. You are committed to your own growth and development but believe growth does not need to be heavy or difficult. You are more drawn to approaches that are joyful and life affirming.
- When you make a commitment you stick with it because you’ve seen the results when you do. When you participate 100% you receive 100% back.
- You are willing to invest in yourself and that investing in your own growth and development pays off enormously long term.Place your list items here
