Coronavirus Safeguards for September 2020 onwards

In September 2020, I resumed my live courses. This was a big step after so many months of lockdown.

The current restrictions do not affect my courses as they come under the bracket of educational and training events and also because they provide psychological support at a challenging time when anxiety is far higher than usual for many people. But this may change at any time. I will continue to run the courses as long as it is safe to do so.

The venues that I am using are requiring a number of safeguards and assurances, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

You will be asked to take your temperature before attending the course as this is the fastest way of establishing whether you are infected. Please also wash your hands before and after the course, and hand sanitiser will also be available for your use.

We also will need to wear a face covering throughout the session, unless that requirement changes or you are exempt from wearing a mask. Please bring a face covering with you. This is unlikely to affect your participation or the results you receive from the course or workshop, and for some people, it may aid your participation. This is because you will be learning to respond to others intuitively – and this will also help you when relating to others when wearing a mask.

We will be practising social distancing as much as we can during the session, and we will taking precautions during the expressive activities to prevent the spread of the virus.

We are required to practice Test and Trace and therefore if a member of the group discovers they may have been infected when attending the course, we will all need to isolate according to government guidelines (unless a COVID negative test result enables us to continue with the live course). Alternatively, I will move the session online until it is safe for us to meet in a live setting.

If you are unable to attend due to a COVID 19 infection, or we need to move the course online due to a second wave, or the venue closes, or there is a local lockdown, and you are unable to attend the course on Zoom, you will be able to make up the session you missed, when next I run this course.

The highest risk age group for passing the virus is 20-40, so if you are in that age group, I am asking you to take especially care that you don’t unknowingly bring the virus to other members of the event you are attending. Particularly 12-week courses.

I am looking forward to welcoming you to the courses and will do everything in my power to keep the courses safe, but this requires co-operation from everyone on the course, and I welcome your input.

It is courageous to choose to participate at this time, but at no other time are my courses more needed. If you know you need to attend but are anxious about the consequences of attending, please get in touch so I can help you assess the risks.

I am really hoping that if we all work together to protect each other from the virus, I will be able to run all 12-week courses, as well offer the other live events on the autumn calendar.

The Breakthrough Group is the first step for many people – particularly if you feel shy, self-conscious or experience social anxiety. I’ve seen some miraculous transformations in my 20 years of running this course.

Or, if speaking up in groups, being heard, or any kind of public speaking is your challenge, then the  Finding Your Voice course is a good place to start. Particularly if anxiety or nerves are an issue. I’ve had people with very severe symptoms including panic attacks, overcome these issues with relative ease.

“I don’t know what to say” improvisation for social confidencei s great for people with average confidence who experience some form of social anxiety or awkwardness but find themselves stumped with knowing what to say. Working through improvisation and will transform your verbal confidence and social skills.
